Rooted in Courage: Savitri Devi’s Story of Farming, Family, and Hope

Sharing a journey of Savitri Devi from Lalganj who has shown how resilience, when supported with the right tools, can transform struggle into strength.

Since 2014, after the loss of her husband, she has shouldered the responsibility of raising four children with courage. With 1.25 acres of her own land for staple crops and 1.8 acres leased for vegetables like chili, eggplant, and beans, each harvest has become a step toward resilience and hope for a better future.A daughter and elder son stand beside you, helping in the fields and running a small decoration business, but even with their support, one is barely able to make ends meet—let alone dream of giving one’s children the life they deserve.

People doubt her, whisper that she couldnot manage without a husband. She had no formal education, only determination and the will to push forward. She began farming with whatever knowledge she had, relying on instinct and courage.

Then comes a turning point—joining hands with Swami Vivekanand Shiksha Samiti India and the 2030 Water Resources Group Spices Project. With their technical guidance and scientific methods, farming no longer feels like guesswork. She learnt to plan better, reduce risks, and adopt practices that increase both yield and income. What was once mere survival starts to look like hope.

Today, she stands taller, empowered and proud. She can finally dream—of good education, proper nutrition, and a secure future for your children. She is not just farming; you are building the foundation for a better tomorrow.
